When are restore points deleted?
Just to confirm...when are restore points deleted according to their retention policy?
Once the entire job completes or when an individual VM has completed its backup.
I have multiple VM's (24) in one job and I seem to be running out of disk space on my backup repository every so often. From what I understand the old restore points are flushed after the job completes.
If this is true, I might need to split my job into multiple jobs in order to have the cleanup occur earlier.

Re: When are restore points deleted?
Hello,
Restore points are deleted when the whole job is finished.
What backup method do you use?
Thanks!

Re: When are restore points deleted?
I use reverse incrementals with a synthetic full every week and a real full every month. I use a secondary backup job to create GFS to a dedup volume.
Unfortunately, my volume to backup my day2day backups (7 days retention) is limited (hoping to be able to expand early this year). I have to carefully plan when each full is run and when retention points are cleaned.
Especially when a real backup is created. After a real full, the backup chain is started again leaving me with 2 fulls for a period of time.

Re: When are restore points deleted?
If you do some recovery verification such as Surebackup, there is no need of monthly active fullbackups.
In general it`s not a good practice to keep your backup repository almost full all the time, so I would suggest to expand the repository or free some space on it.
You may also leverage higher deduplication/compression ratios.
Thanks!

OK, will give this a shot. I was under the impression that an active full, once in a while was recommend. I have a weekly surebackup running so I guess if these are succesfull a forever incremental should be sufficient.

Yes, that`s correct. And you don`t need to have 2 full backups of every VM.
