I have notices that during our Exchange server backup, Veeam takes two snapshots and am wondering why this is. This is the job log in Veeam:
07/03/2017 18:00:50 :: Using guest interaction proxy vprx01 (Different subnet)
07/03/2017 18:01:03 :: Inventorying guest system
07/03/2017 18:01:39 :: Preparing guest for hot backup
07/03/2017 18:05:52 :: Releasing guest
07/03/2017 18:07:04 :: Removing VM snapshot
07/03/2017 18:17:33 :: Creating snapshot
07/03/2017 18:18:12 :: Getting list of guest file system local users
07/03/2017 18:18:12 :: Collecting disk files location data
07/03/2017 18:20:31 :: Removing VM snapshot
As you can see there are two removing VM snapshot entries. Looking in vCenter, the corresponding logs show:
07/03/2017 18:04:32 :: Create virtual machine snapshot
07/03/2017 18:06:53 :: Remove snapshot
07/03/2017 18:17:22 :: Create virtual machine snapshot
07/03/2017 18:20:20 :: Remove snapshot
First snapshot removal takes ~8 mins, the second one takes ~75 mins. Anyone have any idea why there are two snapshots needed when all other jobs only require one.

Re: Why does Exchange Backup Have to Take Two Snapshots
You might open a support case to investigate because your log info is quite limited here on the forum. Since it is Exchange specific, maybe it has something to do with the persistent snapshot mechanism:
