Possible Ransomware Activity Alert

Post by DarrenToews » 1 person likes this post

Just wondering if MP for SCOM is going to get the same Ransomware Alert that Veeam ONE has? I had been told that it was in the works a while back but haven't heard anything about it in awhile. Is it still planned for release? If so, when can we expect to see it?

Hi Darren,

No plans at the moment to implement in MP the exact same 'possible ransomware' alert as Veeam ONE but we are researching other methods to alert on ransomware attacks (while avoiding false positives), so watch this space!

Thanks,
Alec

Hi Darren,

There is no ransomware alerting feature in the next MP update.
Veeam MP consumes vSphere performance, event and configuration data; I don't believe it's possible to make an accurate judgement on ransomware activity from the available data.
However ransomware is an important topic and Veeam continues to research in this area.

The next MP update is focused on adding new monitoring and reporting capabilities for the vSphere, Hyper-V and Veeam Backup environments. Release is planned for next month, please watch this forum for updates!

Thanks,
Alec
