All logs to different drive - Case # 05294013

Post by makacmar »

Hello,

would be possible to move all logs from C drive to another drive like VBR?

example
from C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup to D:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup

thank you

Hi Marcel,

Currently, it's not possible to change the location of the logs for Veeam ONE. We are writing them there primarily due to the default folder permission settings.

However, you may move the logs to the D drive and then create a hard link from the location on the C drive to the new location on the D drive.

Thanks

Hello Marcel,

Could you please clarify why it is inconvenient for you to use a hard link or symbolic link? Do you want to do that because of the security considerations?

Thanks

Hello Marcel,

If you install Veeam ONE on the D drive, move the logs folder from the C drive to the D drive and create a symbolic link from the C drive to the D drive, none of the product files will reside on D. You may create the symbolic link using the following command.

Code: Select all

mklink /j "C:\PathToTheLogs" "D:\PathToTheLogs"
Would this workaround comply with your security policies? If not, could you please explain why?

Thanks
