Migration from one VeeamOne instance to another

Post by cpm30 »

Good afternoon Folks,

We are planning out our migration effort to move our Backup Infrastructure to another VeeamOne instance. On our legacy instance, we have our Veeam Enterprise Manager connected as Backup Infrastructure source, with the individual BNR servers falling under it. Is there a way to migrate the BNR servers underneath EM one at a time to our new VeeamOne instance, or do we have to cut it all over at the same time? Is there any benefit or best practice regarding connecting each back and replication server to our Backup Infrastructure individually, or should we continue to just link enterprise manager and go from there? Thanks!

Hello,
if you ask for "migration", I assume that you are asking how to migrate the database? That is described in KB1801

With database migration, the question is already solved. Because it's already connected then :-)

For simplicity, I prefer Enterprise Manager.

Best regards,
Hannes

Yep, it's just a matter of backing up and restoring a database between two SQL server instances.

There's no data that would suggest any evident benefits of the 'cutting and starting anew' approach, especially considering your use of Enterprise Manager. IMO it would be a placebo effect at best :)
