Working with categories and tags of vSphere 5.1 database
Hi
we are using "Veeam One Monitor Version 6.5.0.676".
Now we're using custom attributes to organize the businuess view. With vCenter/vSphere 5.1 it is possbile to create categories and tags. Existing custom attributes can be converted.
Does Veeam One Monitor deal with categories and tags of vCenter/vSphere 5.1? If yes; what should i have to do or configure?
Best regards

Hi Klaus,
vCenter Server tags info currently cannot be retrieved by Veeam ONE 6.5. Can you please give me a bit more info on what you're trying to achieve so I could keep this scenario in mind while discussing this feature with the R&D team?
Thanks!

Re: Working with categories and tags of vSphere 5.1 database
Hi Vitaly,
currently we use custom attributes named like "application". We use the values of this attributes to show the virtual machines that are representing the same applications within the business view. In this way, we see alarms and resources of the application. We also want to organize VMs about "using through end users". Here we use another cutom attribute. Etc.
After we have made the upgrade to the newest vCenter version, we use custom attributes. At the moment we didn'tmigrate to categories and tags. VMware will prefer the new web client and then we have to use categories and tags. You didn't see custom attributes in the web client.
I hope, that my explanation helps you.
Greetings.

Currently vCenter tags are not exposed via API, once this functionality is available, we'll consider adding it in the next updates. Thanks!
