"latest full backup chain only" not working after v9 U1

Post by StephanF »

Hi,

we have several backup jobs running daily in reverse incremental mode. An active full backup is scheduled for the last sunday of every month. Additionally I have Backup to Tape Jobs to copy these backups to tape. Since v9 I use the option "process latest full backup chain only" here which was working perfectly.
Since applying update 1 this option does not work any more. The jobs want to copy both VBK files (the one of the old chain before the active full and the one of the new chain starting with the active full) to tape. This is true for the existing backup to tape jobs and for newly created ones.

Anybody having the same issue?

Case # 01746144

Greetings
Stephan

Same problem here!

Since Update 1 Veeam tries to backup the last reverse incremental vbk and the last reverse incremental vbk before last active full to tape. We don't need two full backups on tape.
The option "process latest full backup chain only" is selected.

QA confirmed that there are some problems with latest full backup processing for reversed incremental chains in Update 1. The hotfix has been already created and you should get it soon. Thanks.

Hi

Is there any time-frame for this being released publically? While I'm sure it'll make it into v9 U2 that's likely still a long way off.

I'm asking as we are just about to start doing Tape backups with Veeam and this will affect us, but obviously I don't have logs for this actually happening to put in a case yet since we haven't started backing up to tape with Veeam and I'd rather have this working from the outset than have to have it fail, upload logs and wait to get a hotfix.

Thanks

Having the same issue with putting the latest Full Backup Copy .VBK onto tape, although Process latest full backup chain only is selected it is putting all 4 .VBK from our keep 4 weekly GFS chain onto tape.

Will log a case with support.
