Virtual Lab Performance

Hi

I have successfully setup a virtual lab using the veeam backup server as host.

This server has the CPU and memory ressources to host the 9 VM's I want to start as a sureback job.

However I find that it takes well beyond an hour to start all VM's and if one fails I have to start all over.

Can I improve the virtual lab / sure backup by using faster disks, and how would I do that?

From what I understand the vm's are booted directly from the backup storage, thus limited by the iops available.

Could I gain anything from having a dedicated SSD storage volume and create a full backup of all VM's to this volume. Then start the surebackup from this restore point?

Right, VMs in virtual lab are booted directly from the backup files, so getting disks that allow for faster random reads will improve SureBackup jobs performance.
