restore with powershell from zipped backups?
hi,
I use the free edition (update 2) combined with powershell / task manager on a windows 8.1 computer to make backups of VMs running
on a hyper-v server 2012 r2. since a week or two I have trouble to run the restore wizard. after selecting the vm and choose "entire vm",
the next mask appears in a confused mode.
is this a known issue, is there a patch available or what is the solution?
and the other question is, how can I restore a via Start-VBRZip - created vm with powershell, I tried to use the Start-VBRHvRestoreVM cmdlet,
but as far as I know the free edition do not know restorepoints, isnt it?

Re: restore with powershell from zipped backups?
Hi,
AFAIK it you cannot use PowerShell to restore from VeeamZIP, but you can extract virtual drive from a backup and use it to recreate a virtual machine. Please take a look at this blog post written by Luca.
Thanks

Re: restore with powershell from zipped backups?
thx PTide,
it seems to me that the "confusing restore wizard appearance" is just to be owed the exceeding of the 30 days test phase :/
the workaround with EXTRACT.EXE is nice, but only usable to restore a full machine, not a single file or folder
and one more thing,in contrast to the restore wizard EXTRACT needs much more time to restore VMs
that must be the price for "costless"
ciao

Not sure what you're referring to confusing restore wizard appearance. Kindly, provide screenshots, so that we can take a look.it seems to me that the "confusing restore wizard appearance" is just to be owed the exceeding of the 30 days test phase :/
This statement is also not that clear. Do you mean Get-VBRRestorePoint cmdlet doesn't work in free edition or something else?but as far as I know the free edition do not know restorepoints, isnt it?
Thanks.

Re: restore with powershell from zipped backups?
hm, OK, it took a while to understand, how I can upload images,
I hope it works now
this is what I mean with "confusing restore wizard appearance"
if there´s a solution for the wizard issue (see above), it is unnecessary to discuss the restorepoint - item

Most likely, you're leveraging DPI other than default ones. Can you confirm if this is the case? Thanks.

Re: restore with powershell from zipped backups?
Oh, that can be my problem, of course. I installed the whole infrastructure nested on VMware Workstation (Hyper-V 2012 R2 / Windows 8.1)
and after a while I changed the screen solution, but what ever I do now, I cannot find the screen settings which would clean up my trouble.
I red veeam are searching for a fix in a next release,
hope it will come soon
and of course the topic can be closed, when it is just a DPI issue

Take a look at this article it describes a way DPI settings can be changed in Windows 8.1.
As to the fix, we are working on it, indeed, nevertheless, do not expect it in the next 9.5 release.
Thanks.
