I know 2003 is EOL, but I have some old accounting machines I need to keep around for historical purposes/lookups/etc.
I see where I can get a 2003 VM to work on 2016 by installing the 2012 R2 integration components....but what I am really curious about is the backup. Anyone backing up a 2016 host with 2003 guests with Veeam? Will that work? They back up fine on a 2008 R2 machine now....just worried about moving off the 2008 R2 host.
Thanks!

Re: Anyone with 2016 with 2003 guests?
Hi Mark,
Quick google search proves that you can run a Windows Server 2003 VM on the Hyper-V 2016, but to make sure it works in your case, you can deploy a dedicated host for Hyper-V 2016, copy the VM and then run the test job. Otherwise, performing an in-place upgrade of the host and then discovering issues specific to this accounting application would be really undesirable.
Thanks!

Ok, then using pre-freeze scripts specific to your application and SureBackup should help in the backup verification.
