Backup MS SQL

Hello to all,
I have a Veeam license for Virtual Machines.

Currently I have a VM (Windows Server) that acts as a Domain Controller.
MS SQL is also installed on it.

I've set up a backup of the entire VM every night, and it's ok.

If I had to restore a file, I do it easily.

If instead I had to restore the entire SQL Database, how do I do it?

I tried to follow but I can not understand one thing:

I can backup SQL which is on a single virtual machine.

I have only one VM that does everything (DC, SQL ...) how can I make a backup of only SQL?

Someone correct me if I'm wong but, I don't believe that is possible. SQL usually relies on parts that are installed to the C:\ drive. Since Veeam is a image based backup solution, you'll need to grab it all to get a good backup of SQL.

Jeff is correct. Application processing requires periodic VM backup, so frankly speaking you must configure the regular VM backup job to protect your SQL databases.
