Hi,
If I have backed up a vm to a tape, and I want to delete that VM from tape, is the only solution to erase the whole tape ?
Thanks for reply.

Re: Remove data from tape
Hi Andreas,
I'm afraid that is the only solution. Can I ask why you need to remove a specific VM (I am kind of guessing for GDPR reasons?)

Re: Remove data from tape
Hi,
Thanks for reply. Yes something like that![Smile :)](https://forums.veeam.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Btw, another tape question.... What is the main difference between erase tape slow and fast, is it only that with slow, you are 100% sure that there is no old data on the tape ? If I do not have any problem having old data on the tape, could I just use the Mark as Free when I want to reuse a tape ?

Re: Remove data from tape
So fast means we only erase the headers but the data remains.
Slow means erase everything.
PS: If it is for GDPR, despite common believe... It is not necessary to remove data from backups (imagine doing it on a Worm
). However, you just need to make sure you don't restore that specific VM in production again.
