Restoring managed metadata in Sharepoint lists

Post by d.karacic »

Hello,

we need to have the ability of restoring managed metadata in Sharepoint lists. It´s existential for our work!

Error:

The item could be restored incorrectly. | Column type 'TaxonomyFieldType'(Prozess_x0020_Tortenst_x00fc_ck) is not supported.

It is a good user story for the product owner, maybe ;-)

Kind regards,

Hi Damir,

We have certain plans for the future, however, what exactly do you want to restore? The data which is inside the lists, or the metadata which is created on a global level? Because that last one is not really data and is a whole different approach of protecting

Hi Mike,

we do not want to backup the global metadata.
We use metadata in Sharepoint lists rows, for classifikation and kategorization of data.
From a bunch of predefined metadata, the user can choose a suitable label (metadata).

Kind regards,

Damir,

In that case the data itself is on our roadmap.

Hi Christophe,

v7 didn't bring any changes to the support of SharePoint taxonomy. It's still on the backlog for vNext.

Any news on this? A while ago we had to restore managed metadata lists but it failed like mentioned here. We had to restore a copy of the (huge) database, connect it, extract the needed data manually and import the lists manually.

Hello,
I too am interested in this capability and I want to know if there's any updates. We are currently looking into Veeam for our Office 365 environment but this SharePoint metadata column restoring is very important to us.

I'm unsure if the last response covered the v7 version of MO365 Backup but please let me know.

Hi Terence and welcome to Veeam forums,

There are no updates on Term Store support. It's not foreseen in the upcoming release.

If you don't have plans on supporting this type of metadata, can you at least include a parameter that disables the warning in the jobs? Why does the console report on an error that can't be resolved? It simply appears as #ERR in the job log when encountering a site with taxonomy data. The nature of the #ERR remains unclear until extended logging is enabled.

As a CSP, this limitation is flooding our console with unactionable warnings.

Hi @t7MevELx0,

Could you please provide me with the error/warning messages you see? There might be a variety of those, and to consider suppressing a message, I need to understand at least which specific message to look into.
