RHEL 9.4 support

Post by william88 »

Hi,

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4 was released on May 1, 2024. Among other things, this release includes official support for PostgreSQL 16, which we need and which we already know is supported according to the page https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... plications
Have you had a chance to test Veeam Backup & Replication with this version of RHEL ?

Thank you

Hi, not yet as it's had just been released. By way of reminder, our target for new OS, platform, app versions support is 90 days. QA will need two weeks for the initial assessment and tests, then we will know more precisely. Thanks

Thank you Gostev.
I also posted this question to get feedback from potential customers who had done tests of their own.

FYI: I tested the agent on 9.4 and it does not work for me (tested on a non-production machine, just wanted to see if it worked or not) fails to load veeamblksnap

Correct, the agent needs to be updated to support 9.4
@PTide and @rovshan.pashayev are on it.

@gothaggis,

Which version of the agent are you running?

The most recent update 12.1.2 adds support for RHEL 9.4.

Thanks!

Hi,

Does the fact that Veeam Backup & Replication 12.1.2.172 supports Veeam Agent for Linux backup for RHEL 9.4 also mean that VBR 12.1.2.172 supports RHEL 9.4 VM backup ?

Thank you

Hello William,

Veeam Agent for Linux allows backup of individual Linux machines, supporting both file-level and volume-level backups.

Veeam Backup & Replication supports host-level backups of virtual machines at the hypervisor level, allowing direct backup and restore of entire VMs, including the OS and applications. So, RHEL's version does not affect VBR's ability to perform VM-level backups.

In short, yes, you can backup VM running RHEL 9.4.

Hello Rovshan,

Thank you for your reply.

In our case, we are interested in backing up RHEL 9.4 VMs at the vSphere hypervisor level.
In the documentation https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... sphere-vms it is mentioned that VBR is compatible up to RHEL 9.3.
It would therefore appear that RHEL 9.4 is not supported (although it may be functional).

In fact, that's why I opened this thread: to find out when RHEL 9.4 will be supported at backup level via the hypervisor.
