Do we know when this will work again? I have not seen any info on this in about a year.

It is still on our roadmap to add this through the new Teams API (as we have to do). One important item here is that it will be all or nothing, meaning that you either protect everyone's messages or none. And that will come with an API cost I'm afraid...
