Virtual Infrastructure usage Report

Post by B-D-O »

Dear Community

We have a VMware environment with around 400 virtual machines, distributed across different datastores. These are backed up and monitored with Veeam and VeeamOne.

For internal billing, we have a dedicated datastore for each department. Currently, we evaluate the resources per datastore once a month on a specific date using VeeamONE and the "VMs Configuration" report. It's important for us to know how much RAM, CPU, and storage are allocated to the virtual machines in each datastore. This process works so far.

We would like to have a more detailed evaluation, not just on a specific date per month but also retrospectively. This way, we can see each day of the month how much RAM, CPU, and storage a virtual machine has been allocated.
For example, if the RAM of a virtual machine is increased during the month, we want to know when it happened so that we can bill more accurately.

Ideally, we would like this data in a report/Excel/CSV once a month. Is there a way to do this with VeeamONE? Since we have an SQL database, the data should be retrospectively analyzable. Unfortunately, we can't find a suitable report.

Or could we possibly do this with an external tool via API? Does anyone have experience with this? For instance, could we use Grafana or a similar tool to read the data from VeeamONE?

Greetings,
B.

Hello B-D-O,

The closest to the request are
Infrastructure Changes by Object report
There you may select the time range in the past and select the metrics like amount/limit/reservation memory for VMs.

vSphere Custom Performance report
There you may also select the time range in the past and select the metrics like active/usage/consumed memory for VMs.

Thanks
