access denied when try to backup files from solaris share

Post by darkmastermu »

Hi
Environment:
VBR version 12.1.2.172 in WS 2019 as backup, proxy an repository server
Solaris 11 with smb (samba) share folder that contains files produced by a process and the files have permitlogy 750 (owner john, group test)
In VBR console, we configure the smb folder first without credentials, next with john credentials and finally root credentials.
In the 3 cases, when we try to backup files, we received the error

Code: Select all

1:01:22 PM	Unable to backup 185 files: access is denied
1:01:22 PM	Skipped files log: C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\OSPBDP02_ARC\__172.10.48.12_archive_PACSELP\Report\__172.10.48.12_archive_PACSELP_2024-05-25T130048.csv
1:01:25 PM	Backup metadata update completed successfully 00:22
1:01:53 PM	Backed up 0 files and 0 folders (0 B); skipped 185 inaccessible files
But the job finish green!!

I know that if the user that try to do the backup is different to john or not is in the group test, the access is denied, but remember the the job start in a windows server and only have a site where we can put credentials. And is it not possible to change manually or into a procedure the 750 file permission to 757 or 777.

Any idea to do this?

Regards

Hi Miguel,

Thank you for sharing your Support Case number, and sorry to hear about the challenges. Just out curiosity, are you able to access the same SMB share and read/copy files from it normally with Windows?

I can see that Support has a pending question for you regarding the accounts, so at your convenience, please continue with the Support Engineer and also try the above test and report back on it (and also share your test results in the case please :) )
