Booted Recovery Media for VAW 6.1 does not see any disks (drivers not loaded?)

Post by KlausPodolski »

After upgrading to VAW 6.1 I've also created a new recovery media (Windows 11 23H2) - with option "include hardware drivers from this computer" selected!

But after booting with recovery media it doesn't detect any any disks (neither internal nor external).
With Recovery Media based on 5.0.2 this was not the case.

Installing additional hardware drivers within recovery media booted doesn't work either. All disk drives appear still in unknown state.

Such a recovery media is rather useless (for restoring computer or OS).
Hopefully old recovery media still works.
Please fix this.

Please open a support case so we know what to fix, as this is most likely specific to your machine's OS or hardware vs. a generic issue with VAW 6.1 recovery media. Thanks!

Update on the issue:
To check if any WinRE created has problems detecting the drives, I've installed Win 11 ADK and WinPE-AddOn to create a WinRE.
Then I've created the Veeam Recovery Media once more and this time the disks are accessible.
I have no idea, if and why this may have solved the problem.

Hello,

I have the same problem, latest agent installed, created recovery-media, but still no disks visible after booting from it :-(
ADK and WinPE-Plugin installed.

What I do not understand:
I can see the known devices in the recovery environment (if I click "load driver") and the NVMe disk of my Lenovo T14 Gen4 is listed there.
But if I take a look at the "unknown Devices", there are my volumes listed as STROAGE\VOLUME

diskpart show disk and partition, but no volumes !
This cannot be related to a "driver", can it ?

If I use a recover-media created on another machine, it mounts the volumes.
But as there is not always "another machine", this cannot be the solution.

I am running Win11 23H2 Enterprise.

Regards
Sascha

Hello Sascha,

Were network and storage drivers collected during recovery media creation? Thanks!
