There it will be hard to add something, that not is already sayed. Your digest is some special around the topics backup, data security, costumer field expierience and some inside informations at veeam. Something similar I didn´t saw before. Many thanks to you Anton!

Its fantastic, I learn so much from the weekly digest email not only about everything Veeam related but also useful and interesting technical information and points about the industry in general that I have relayed to my work colleagues and customers many times! Thankyou Gostev!

As a partner and Veeam integrator since 2008 I must said that Veeam wouldn't be the same without Gostev. A real Techno Evangelist with much passion.

The weekly digest is definitely a nice starting point on Monday and generally the first mail I read. Always some good brain food into it.

Thanks for all these years and I hope that we will have many more ahead.

I started reading these12 years ago when I on-boarded Veeam as a partner when managing the storage/backup portfolio at GreenPages Technology Solutions. It led to my working for Veeam!

I take pride in faithfully finding that hidden "Unsubscribe" from every newsletter I didn't ask for, but inevitably start receiving after putting my email in a web form. I read 1 newsletter, and that's Gostev's.

Thank you very much for your candor, insight, and sometimes humor. I even forward your newsletter to other folks at my company from time to time, as the writings often apply to so many on the IT frontlines.

I miss Antons weekly digest dearly, but i also understand the situation and that not everything goes back to normal just because some time passes..

Still, i really feel alot more uninformed withouth Antons words at the beginning of the week - it was always such a nice thing to look forward to after the weekend at the start of the workday...

I Just read Anton's most recent update for "The word from Gostev" and thought I would find something like this here already. :)
Anton, thank you so much for the great updates. I hope you carry them on at some point but, if not, I would like to add my appreciation for them over the years. It occurred to me that maybe you either take a much needed break OR maybe (with permission from Veeam, of course) take the opportunity to write about what you are doing and feeling right now relating to the conflict. Maybe there is something useful the community can do to give back, even if it is just emotional support. :)

I'd like to chime in that I too was happy to see the return of the weekly digest post, although I fully understand the desire to step back from it. I'd also like to throw out there that I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has felt like I can't do all that much to directly help the refugees, but if Gostev were to put up a GoFundMe or something I'd pitch in.

I greatly appreciate your previous work for the weekly newsletter and understand your issues because of the war in Ukraine.

I hope that you start back again to write your weekly summary of important points in the newsletter or will give us all here a info, that we should not expect that anymore for now and the future.

Hello Mike, thank you so much for your kind words.

Truth be told, there are additional complications these days due to my new senior role. Please appreciate that I can no longer openly share my personal opinion like I did without it coming across as an official Veeam's position. This was already a major issue even before I became C-level, with our Alliance execs firefighting the fallout of my newsletters every other Monday. But same issues now would mean 10x bigger problem, including for me personally, and every next newsletter can become a Veeam career-ending one :) yet I cannot fix this because I refuse to create bland content which only goal is to make everyone happy.

I just like to say it how it is and 11+ years of writing this newsletter convinced me that it's practically impossible to produce interesting, non-bland technical newsletters without constantly upsetting someone. And I'm not talking vendors only but also regular readers who disagreed strongly with some of my points, got upset about jokes I make etc. and decided to go all the way to our CEO with their concerns... this happened many times over the past decade and a few folks even made it their mission to get me "corrected". It was not a pleasant experience but is an unavoidable reality for any newsletter with tens of thousands subscribers.

So unfortunately I'm unable to start again while I'm holding my current role at Veeam, however I can definitely foresee restarting if/when I leave Veeam - as overall, I did enjoy doing this and I know that many people liked the content.

I think I can speak on behalf of many people here, we totally prefer you in Veeam without the newsletter, than you free to write it again ;)

I agree with Luca, but first prize remains Veeam with Gostev AND the excellent Monday morning reading that many of us have missed since the hiatus began.

I'd like to propose a workaround that I'm sure would work for everyone : that Gostev writes under a "nom de plume" to avoid any of the above-mentioned unpleasantness due to people with sense-of-humour-deficits or overactive-umbrage-glands.A

I'm sure nobody would notice and complain if there suddenly some interesting thoughts posted every Monday from a new forum user called "Ghostev" that had (wink) nothing at all to do with @Gostev......

To be frank, since it was brought up again- you could still make it interesting and non-bland, but your style was a bit inflammatory and tone deaf sometimes. You would sprinkle in things like "if you didn't know about this (program or website, whatever it was) you must be living under a rock." I brought this up in the forum and you said it must be a cultural thing. What? I'm from the US. :)

I would never complain to the CEO or anything like that, some people are just snowflakes on a power trip, sort of like cancel culture.

I too, would like to see the newsletter return in some form, it was great.

I think the weekly digest is the best "newsletter" I get in my mailbox.
I run an MSP in Hong Kong and we have been using Veeam since the early versions and have been subscribed to the newsletter for a very long time.

I just saw this thread popup in my weekly Veeam newsletter. I have often wondered what happened and why we didn't get Gostev's weekly commentary and have been eagerly waiting for it's return.

I would like to echo the user's post that I am quoting above along with many of the other commenters. I feel exactly the same way.

I always enjoyed the commentary about Veeam and also the additional IT/Technology related news that was also often included. Many times, it was topics that I hadn't yet heard about and was glad to learn about them.

I felt that the newsletter with Gostev's commentary made me feel connected as a valued customer to the Veeam product. There is definitely a void without it.

Totally agree with Luca, even though not been free to express yourself is not a good thing, leaving Veeam for a newsletter would be even worse! :)
That said, i personally miss your technical contents, what about resuming the newsletter focusing on that?

Thanks Gostev for your openness now and then. And enjoy your new role!

I am checking hundreds of tech articles in my newsfeed every week. In them there are dozens of true IT influencers. Few of them are extremely readable. And on the very top is you with your newsletter. No more, but I can handle.
What has changed is my love with Veeam. Is is still hot, just not as much as it was before. My NPS has faded a point or two for sure.
No other vendor is or trying to be very open. Veeam is trying and under "Gostev newsletter times" even tried to raise the bar in the whole industry IMHO.

Let this your effort remain an example to follow for the others!

I miss the newsletter as well. However, under the circumstances it is understandable. I once had a boss high up on the food chain who said the most enjoyable times he had in his career was when he was in the middle, i.e. enough money to live but not too much responsibility or being under a microscope all the time.
Of course there is always the possibility of writing these with a "nom de plume", The word from Garp or something :) . I don't know most likely that would be frowned upon in the corporate world as well.
