how to upgrade asp net net.core when using veeam backup 11

Hello.Tell me, is veeam backup version 11 installed, ASP NET and NETCore version 3 installed, how can I update the NET versions, does veeam backup 11 support newer NET versions.

Hi Alex,

V11 does not utilize newer .NET versions, and it's not possible to make V11 compatible with them. You need to install a product version of Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) that was built for .NET 8, which is the only version still supported by Microsoft. Therefore, please upgrade to VBR version 12.3. Older VBR versions do not support .NET 8.

We're on the latest version of VBR, 12.3.0.210, and it still has a couple .NET 6 components along with .NET 8. Is it now safe to completely remove the .NET 6 components? Last time I tried it caused an error with one of the Veeam plugins.

I'd like to know as well if it's safe to uninstall .NET 6 components from the backup server, keeping only .NET 8 components. I'm on the latest version of VBR (12.3.1.1139).

Hello. We are running Veeam 12.2.3 and .NET Core 8.0.10. Which was installed by a Veeam upgrade, not manually by any sysadmins. I removed the older versions of .NET Core that remained on the Windows server. Now, our Nessus scanner is flagging that version as havin vulnerabilites tha tneed to be patched.... up to version 8.0.17. How are you maintaing theese updates? Why isn't Veeam maintaing any loger with product updats as in the past? I apprecaite any insight, Thank you

Veeam never updated .NET Core in the past as it's a part of Microsoft Update. Make sure you have that enabled on your server.
