Restoring to S3

Post by trackstar »

Hey guys,

We currently have a Veeam server on premise. We have backup copy jobs that are stored on AWS S3. Our goal is to be able to restore the VMs to AWS and then spin up machines. We are working on an offsite disaster planning. Please refer any approach or documents that would fit our needs.

The longer goal would have a VPN setup that allows communications between the VMs on premise and AWS.

Thanks,
TT

Hi TT

I suggest to start with our help center article for „Restore to Amazon EC2“.
Please note, that you need a Veeam backup server for the restore. In case your on premise environment is completely lost, you have to deploy another backup server and import a configuration backup or reconnect to the AWS S3 buckets.

You can also Restore VMs with AWS Private Link or AWS Direct Connection. Please follow the steps in our KB for this kind of scenario: https://www.veeam.com/kb4264

If you have any further question, please let us know.

Best,
Fabian

Just off my head. I was thinking we deploy a Windows Server with Veeam on EC2. Then from that server (one on EC2) we connect to the same S3 bucket that our Veeam server on premise connects to.

We are licensed up to Orchestrator, can we install multiple instances of Veeam backup and replication?
