Hi all,
I've just had to reconfigure all my jobs due to infrastructure changes. We use VIX for guest processing in our environment since the backup infrastructure has no access to customer networks.
We also make use of a single "No Application Aware" VMware Tag, which we assign to any server that doesn’t require Application-Aware backups. That tag is then added into each job under Guest Processing → Enable Application-aware processing → Applications.
Because of this, the tagged VMs are scattered across multiple jobs.
With the recent changes, I wanted to validate that Guest Credentials were still correct (we have a lot of them). I noticed that during the Guest Credentials test, it’s not just checking the VM(s) explicitly targeted in the job (under Virtual Machines), but also every VM with the "No Application Aware" tag.
This means I’m seeing credential checks against many VMs that are not part of that particular job.
Example:
Job includes a single VM: guest-vm01
In the Applications section, I add the "No Application Aware" tag and set it to Disable application processing
When I run a Guest Credentials check, it tests ~30 machines instead of just the one VM.
Question:
Is this intended behaviour (by design)? Or is it a bug?
Thanks,
Andrew Morison
