Hello,
We are moving from independant backup copy to capacity tier, who is saving time for us, and avoid mistake.
Example, a customer create a backup job in VMware Cloud Director portal, target to a SOBR with capacity tier, with immuatbility enabled. Secondary copy is automatic configure without need to create manually a backup copy or to integrate the backup job into a existant backup copy.
When I generate a Veeam ONE backup compliance report with 2 copy defined. Report is generate with an error. Capacity tier is not considered as a second copy.
According to Veeam ONE, this is not a compliant secondary copy. I'm very surprised.
SOBR with capacity tier is a great feature to be compliant with all VMs send to the performance tier.
- Secondary and offsite copy
- Immutability who respect the period defined in the bucket repository (No immutable on GFS retention like the backup copy targeting a S3 bucket) / this is for this main reason that we are migrating from backup copy to SOBR + capacity tier.
Do you plan to change the report ? According to Veeam, what is your point of view ? The capacity tier is not considered as a compliant second copy?
Thank you
Alexandre

Hello, indeed it's not a secondary copy in case of the Move policy, however it *is* a secondary copy in case of the Copy policy.

Hello Gostev,
I'm agree with you in the Move policy case, but in my case, this is a Copy policy.
The report "VM Backup Compliance Overview" is showing an error, VM are not compliant (2 copies) in Copy policy mode.

Hello Alexandre,
Do you have any support case opened please? Please share the support case with us. From an initial view inside how the report works, I can see the SOBR COPY should be included as a secondary copy, but we can surely investigate better with logs, database dumps, and in case something is not right, we can provide a hotfix first thing to you instead of waiting for next releases wherever possible.
Please let us know.
Thank you!
