v13 OTP mismatch

Post by waelNa »

I could not finish V13 Linux installation on 2 different vms, because of the MFA OTP mismatch error, even after I make sure to synchronize time in CST however this is not working . I tried using Microsoft authenticator and Google Authenticator as well, but neither of them worked
also i tried using the MFA ID didnt work to generate a QR code, only scan QR code but stuck at OTP mismatch

Hello waelNa,

Did you check the time settings / NTP server settings for the machine where VSA is deployed: The provided one-time code is incorrect. Check if the backup server time is correct? Thank you!

Right, this can only be due to the time difference between VSA and smartphone. Absolutely no other options if you scanned the QR code.

please see my post, eventually you're running in the bug i discovered...

tldr: don't use show security key to add OTP by hand and then use show QR code again.. this will generate new security keys each time (wich the OTP depends on)

No, he said he scanned the QR code and the QR code always works. There are no known ways to end up with an incorrect MFA registration when scanning the QR code since the QR code is always valid and actual... so for sure it's time mismatch as there are absolutely no other variables that can go wrong.

Your issue is strictly due to using the code for manual entry AFTER clicking the button to show the QR code, which invalidates the former. This is described in the Top Issues sticky.
