Feature Request | 24 hour time format, time zones

Post by sdolcourt »

VeeamONE
13.0.0.5729

Issue #1

We have a Linux admin writing BASH scripts, he reports that this format is more challenging to manipulate / sort. An extra step is needed to convert to 24 hour time, which makes sorting easier. This sorting is needed to flow data to Nagios, for monitoring and alerting.

Request is to have time and date perhaps as separate columns, and a means within the report saving wizard in VeeamONE GUI, to select different time and date formats, e.g. 24 hour time, day / month / year, etc.

Issue #2:

We have VBR in different time zones, there is nothing in the saved report wizard, or the reports themselves, that included time zone.

Request is to have a time zone column or other such tag included in the CSV as to effect scripting upon.

Hello Seth,
There are multiple feature requests:
For the one about showing the time zones differently, this is a not a FR because we have it within the product today, you just need to change the Regional Format on the Windows Server running Veeam ONE, for example for a 24H format:

Then restart this service:

And then the report date format changes after you refresh the page:

So, now the CSV contains the date format you are seeing the web reporter viewer.

For the second option about schedule, I saw that on other products. I think it is interesting when you have 100/500 VBRs to have one schedule like at 09am, and then that 9am would use VBR Server timezone.

My workaround, and what I have seen Service Providers using is:
  • You filter by VBR1 all the required reports (Job History, Workload Protection History, etc.)
  • Save those reports into a Folder called VBR1
  • Apply a schedule that makes sense for that VBR to the folder. If your VBR is in NYC, and your Veeam ONE is in London, and you want it at 9am NYC then that schedule is 2pm UK.
  • All of the reports arrive at a timely fashion at 9am NYC time to those interested in VBR1 reports folder
That is not perfect, but surely can save lots of time when using schedule in folders.

Please let us know.

Thank you, I'll execute the 24 time on the VeeamONE server, and see how that goes.

Reporting time zone per VBR as a CSV column (and not to argue, for sure) would magnificently make life simpler, as we script against the CSV for Nagios purposes. I hope this remains a valid feature to ask for, given our use of VeeamONE will be to collate reporting from VBR's flung across the world.

To re-word, the feature request is a need for improved accountancy of VBRs by time zone or country code.
