Dynamic Disk Restore to AWS EC2

Post by rcocate »

I'd like your help in determining if it's possible to restore dynamic disks to basic disks, where the restore flow would be from vSphere to AWS EC2.

I'm asking this because I've tried restoring them a few times, and it only works when the source disk is a basic disk.

Whether the disk type is applied to a single disk or a set of dynamic disks, the restore process doesn't complete successfully in either case. It even starts the transfer process, reporting that some MB have been restored, but then suddenly displays a "...failed to upload disk..." error.

If this isn't the expected way to do this, is there another way Veeam could perform this conversion?

Hi Rodrigo,

Restoring backups with dynamic disks is supported.
The error message you are receiving is not related to the disk type.

We recommend opening a case with our customer support team. Please provide the case number so I can follow up internally.

Thank you,

Hello Fabian,

Thank you for the feedback on this topic. Just to clarify, the issue is not limited to the restoration of dynamic disks but also includes the conversion process during the restoration from dynamic disks to basic disks, as the source is vSphere with dynamic disks and the destination is AWS with basic disks.

I will open a case, and as soon as I have the number, I will inform you here.

Thanks,
Rodrigo Cocate
