vm replication using off-host backup proxy

Hi,

Can you confirm that you have to use storage snapshot as soon as you select off-host backup proxy when replicating VMs?
I don't really see the link between a backup proxy and the fact that you can't do normal snapshots but Hyper-V isn't VMware

Off-Host backup depend on a Microsoft specific technology that needs VSS integrated storage snapshots.
