Veeam Agent deployment fails because the Agent requires .NET 8.0.21, but the Deployer only installs .NET 8.0.20

Hi everyone,

we are running into a reproducible issue when deploying the Veeam Agent for Windows on a Windows Server 2022 machine (fully patched).

During deployment, the Veeam Backup Server automatically installs .NET Runtime 8.0.20 (“8.0.2”).
However, the Veeam Agent service (Veeam.EndPoint.Service.exe) requires .NET Runtime 8.0.21 or later.

This results in the following behavior:

The service VeeamEndpointBackupSvc is created during installation

When Windows tries to start the service, it immediately fails

Windows System Log reports Event ID 7000 / 7009 (service timeout)

The Application log shows repeated entries:
“You must install or update .NET to run this application.
Requested framework: Microsoft.NETCore.App 8.0.21 (x64)
Found: 8.0.20”

The MSI then fails with Error 1920 / exit code 1603, and the deployment rolls back.

Workaround:
Manually installing .NET Runtime 8.0.22 + .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.22 on the target machine fixes the problem immediately.
After that, the Veeam Agent deployment works and the service starts normally.

Question:
Is this a known issue with Veeam Agent 6.x / VBR v13 deployments on Windows Server 2022 and the current .NET 8 runtimes?
It seems the Veeam Deployer is pushing an outdated version of .NET (8.0.20), while the Agent requires 8.0.21 or newer.
