Is Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.22 recognized from the Setup procedure?

Post by azpets »

Hi everyone, this for me is the second install of VAW v13.

During the first one (another computer) i saw that .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.21 was downloaded from internet, installed, then setup procedure continued. So via scripting I installed it, using

Code: Select all

winget install Microsoft.DotNet.AspNetCore.8
which delivers 8.0.22.
Now... during the install of Veeam Agent, procedure is stuck at the black CMD window that says

Code: Select all

[Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows]: Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.21 is missing.
Click OK to install it now.
Easy enough to avoid the .NET install step for this script but... I don't know if the setup procedure should find 8.0.21 or more recent, rather than... 8.0.21.

Issue has been solved now, pre-installing both Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.22 and Microsoft ASP.NET Core Runtime 8 with the instruction

Code: Select all

winget install Microsoft.DotNet.AspNetCore.8 Microsoft.DotNet.DesktopRuntime.8
. This allowed a scripted smooth unattended installation with no interacting (and not working) windows appearing.

The install of first post had to be removed, fixed the system (sfc), reboot and run a manual install. Then update .NET runtimes because while being the most recent security fix, were not the latest
