Veeam 13 Odd Reporting

Post by tgx »

Enjoying the Veeam 13 experience thus far. We chose to take the opportunity to completely start
from scratch building out a new Veeam 13 based infrastructure. It has gone well thus far. One thing
I wanted to mention was some odd reporting.

We receive a nightly report of Manually Added devices and their status. Normally this report is green with
no errors. Last Friday we added in a couple of desktops and fat fingered a couple of dns names that were
not resolvable. That was easily fixed and we moved on. Over the weekend the reports that were generated
included the errors we created adding the desktops. The email subject for the report was odd.

[Error] Manually Added(8 objects) 0 Errors

Is there an error or not?

Opening the email we see a red banner. So clearly something is wrong. Not so fast, the actual 8 objects have no errors.
Veeam has thoughtfully included historical information that occurred on Friday during our desktop additions. Errors that were
resolved.

We are not averse to the included information as more is generally better, but the messaging/presentation we feel needs to be worked
on. We feel the term [Error] is not appropriate in this case as there are no current errors.

The second oddity occurred in the Software Update Summary email.

Name Status Sync Updates Details
serverA Error Error CheckUpdatesFailed
serverB Error Error None

What is the meaning with server B? No updates available? Check updates failed? Just not sure what is going on with that.
FWIW, if you log into host management console for serverB it says it is up to date and you can click 'check for updates' and it seems to be working.
Could have been a network issue at the time the job ran but I would expect to see CheckUpdatesFailed just like serverA.

Just observations.
Thanks.

Hi, thank you for your kind words about V13.

As requested in the forum rules, please always start from opening a support case for any technical issues and wait for the initial conclusion before bringing them for discussion to the forums if still required.

Thank you for understanding.
