Hello all,
The following website provides a table explaining the key features of application-aware image processing and guest processing.
・VMware tools quiescence
・Hyper-V quiescence
・application-aware image processing
https://bp.veeam.com/vbr/4_Operations/O ... ssing.html
Please indicate how the key features in this table would be affected if Nutanix Guest Tools quiescence were added.
My understanding is as follows
Support for consistent backup on Windows guest: Yes
Sync driver for Linux guest: No
Support for application-aware backup:Limited
Pre-VSS preparation for specific applications (e.g. Oracle): No
Support for application log truncation (Microsoft SQL Server and Exchange Server) : No
Support for scripts: Yes (placed on VM guest)
Error reporting: Within VM guest OS
Regards,
Yasuhiro

Re: Application-aware image processing/guest processing on AHV
@ynojiri@kel.co.jp to make sure we're on the same page if both Veeam application-aware processing and NGT are enabled for a job we will not attempt NGT quiescence (no need to double-quiesce a VM). You're correct that in terms of app-aware processing the primary benefit of NGT-only is Windows VSS - https://portal.nutanix.com/page/documen ... tools.html for reference
