Hi everyone,
according to this article https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13, you can run the backup validator from CLI and passing a file without having to have the backup you're validating in B&R. That's nice. However, you still need the whole B&R installation, which can be quite huge and time consuming to install.
I wonder if there was a way to just copy/use the validator and the dependencies (dlls, etc.) so that the validator was portable to validate backups wherever they are...
The background: I'm having multiple backups here and there and the goal is to validate them on the system where the backup is without having to install the whole bundle.
Thanks a lot!

Re: veeam backup validator in the smallest possible way
Hi Michael,
Technically possible, yes, but I would not do it.
Validator is not really standalone as you pointed out, it indeed requires functionality from the backup server itself. I do remember some years ago that one of my colleagues from Support managed to get it to launch and at least "pretend" to validate files, but we found that it really was not working completely.
So yes, you technically can probably get it to launch and maybe work, but each update will likely break it and the process is unsupported.
Out of curiosity, what's the preference of Validator over SureBackup using the Content Scan & Backup Verification mode and / or Healthcheck?
