Veeam Agent licensing

Post by fleodux »

Hi,

I'm working on a project where I need to schedule Proxmox VM backups from an external scheduler (Control-M)
Since it is not possible for now (api is not available) we are using regular Veeam scheduler from complete VM backups and Linux agent for the very same VMs to backup specific folders from shell scripts launched by Control-M.

It would be easier to use standalone agent, native commands on the VM, can restore data directly from the VM, no need to make api calls...

Can I use Proxmox VM backup and standalone linux agent to backup the same VM and consume only one instance from a licensing point of vue ?

Kind regards

Fabien

Hello Fabien! I can confirm that if you have the same system processed by a VM backup and a Veeam Agent backup, it should only consume 1 VUL for that system.

I double checked this specifically with a pair of different Proxmox VMs in my lab with an agent deployed on them. I actively saw the system identified twice in the licensing view but only showing license consumption occurring for one of them and the other reference of that VM having a 0 listed for consumed licensing.
