Hello,
I would like to submit a feature request regarding Veeam Backup & Replication v13 and the integrated Nutanix AHV backup functionality.
Business use case
One of our customers requested an automated Disaster Recovery validation process.
The objective is to automatically:
Restore a specific Nutanix AHV VM on a daily basis into an isolated environment.
Keep the restored VM disconnected from production networking.
Validate that the VM is bootable.
Generate a report of the restore operation.
This is a common DR testing scenario and is comparable to the SureBackup concept available for VMware.
Current situation
After investigating the available automation interfaces, we found that:
The VBR REST API exposes Nutanix AHV restore points.
However, AHV restore points only expose StartFlrRestore in allowedOperations.
There is currently no REST endpoint allowing an Entire VM Restore for Nutanix AHV.
There is also no PowerShell cmdlet equivalent to Start-VBRRestoreVM for Nutanix AHV.
We opened a support case with Veeam, and Support confirmed that there is currently no officially supported API or PowerShell interface to programmatically launch an Entire VM Restore for Nutanix AHV in VBR v13.
Previous functionality
The former Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV product exposed a dedicated REST API, including endpoints such as:
POST /restorePoints/restore
which allowed programmatic Entire VM Restore operations.
Since the Nutanix integration into VBR v13, these endpoints are no longer available.
Feature request
We would like to request an officially supported automation interface for Nutanix AHV restores, for example:
REST API endpoint
PowerShell cmdlet
Public SDK
allowing an Entire VM Restore to be started programmatically.
Ideally, the interface would allow specifying:
Restore Point
Target Prism Central / Cluster
Target Container / Storage
Target Network
VM Name
Power On / Power Off
Restore Progress / Session Status
Why this matters
Without a supported automation interface, partners and customers cannot build reliable Disaster Recovery validation workflows for Nutanix AHV.
Although the VBR GUI supports Entire VM Restore, there is currently no supported way to integrate this functionality into automated DR processes.
Thank you for considering this request.

Re: Feature Request - Programmatic Entire VM Restore for Nutanix AHV in VBR v13
Hi ncs-t-cloud,
Welcome to the forum, and I apologize for the late reply.
Our goal is to reach feature parity between the backup console/Web UI and the API/PowerShell. This may take some time and multiple updates until we reach that state.
Regarding your request todo an "Entire VM Restore?", have you tried this endpoint?

Fabian
