[Feature] PVE backup job warning for vGPU VMs: “PCI device will be excluded from backup”

Hello,

My Proxmox backup job processes all VMs successfully, but finishes with **Warning** because several VMs have NVIDIA vGPU / PCI devices attached.

Environment:

• B&R: `13.0.2.29`
  PVE: `9.2.5`

Job summary example:

Processed: `149 of 149 VMs`
Success: `132`
Warning: `17`
Error: `0`
Warning message: `PCI device will be excluded from backup`

The affected VMs have `hostpciX` devices in their Proxmox configuration.

I would like to clarify:
1. Is this expected behavior for Proxmox VMs with NVIDIA vGPU / PCI passthrough?
2. Are the VM disks and the rest of the VM configuration still fully protected and restorable?
3. After a full VM restore, should I simply add the vGPU / PCI device manually again in Proxmox?
4. Is there any supported way to suppress this warning for known vGPU VMs, so the job can finish with Success instead of Warning?

Hello, Igor,

Yes, this is expected behavior. PCI passthrough devices point to physical host hardware that an image-level backup cannot capture, so the job skips them and finishes with a warning.

The rest of the VM is protected: all supported virtual disks and the VM configuration are backed up and restorable. Skipped devices are not kept in the backup configuration and will not be restored, to avoid conflicts on the target host. After a full restore, re-add the vGPU/PCI devices manually in Proxmox.

There is no built-in way to have such jobs finish with Success today. The severity of this message will be configurable in the next release.
