Howto show snapshot in Proxmox while VM backup is running

Hi,
I've implemented a Job to backup a Linux VM using Proxmox infrastructure. All is working well ( backup ok, restore ok ); I can see the worker powering on before VM backup and powering off at the end, but I'm not able to see into Proxmox GUI the snapshot phase. I suppose that the snapshot creation/deletion has to be found somewhere ( Under VM "Task History" or under "Snapshots" while the backup is running ) but I cannot see nothing. I'm using Proxmox GUI as root.

Have you any suggestion about this problem please?

The snapshot that we use in the PVE UI is not displayed.
Could you please let us know why you need to see the snapshots?

ok. I've found in the logs the location of the "temporary" disk snapshot while the backup is running, and that's enough for me!

Hello Rovshan Pashayev and the rest of the support team,

I’m a systems engineer with extensive experience in VMware vSphere virtualization.
Since the managers at Brodacom went crazy and did what they did,
i started learning Proxmox VE.
I recently started testing backups with Veeam B&R
and immediately ran into a similar issue as the commenter above (Pierpa).
Why can’t I see the snapshot that Veeam obviously has to create on the VM?
And not only that, Veeam tells me that the backup is running via a worker using the HotAdd method,
but I can’t see in either the GUI or the CLI that the worker has claimed any disk from the backed-up VM.

To the question of why I want to see this somewhere (and I really don’t feel like combing through the logs),
I’ll say that it’s very logical,
because both snapshots and disk allocation are operations
that are temporary, and they don’t always manage to complete properly.
I could tell you a thing or two about VMware.
I just want to know and see it.

In other words, could someone explain the following to me:
- How does the entire VM backup process actually work in Proxmox?
- Why isn’t this snapshot a regular Proxmox snapshot, or if it is, why isn’t it visible?
- How can I quickly identify in Proxmox whether that special snapshot is on the VM for Veeam backup?
- How can I tell if a worker owns and reads data from a Hotadd disk?

And so on.
