Post by teottenbacher »

Feature Request - Would be nice if you could restore a OneDrive users Data directly to a SharePoint Site.

Hi Thomas,

What is the use case for restoring “private user data” to a global folder where, theoretically, everyone in the company could have access?
I see you have also opened a second topic with the same content for VB365. I believe we can discuss the request in this topic for both products.

Best,
Fabian

Hello we have clients who consistently ask us to restore a copy of a user's OneDrive data to a SharePoint location they specify so they can retain the data after removing a license from users who are no longer with the company. We are aware there are ways to copy the data directly from withing M365 but there is a 100GB restriction for the browser method, and it is also not the most consistent and doesn't have the best logging to confirm everything actually copied. We have one client that they end up zipping up the user's data then copying it over but they would like an easier way to do it directly from backup restores as it would also make restoring a user's data that did end up being deleted because they never copied it over and the data got deleted. Hopefully that all makes sense anyway it would be super nice as we have another client who we do this for all the time that uses AvePoint and it is possible to directly do this with AvePoint.
