Failed to upgrade VM components: Unable to reinstall deployer service: SSH credentials are not specified

Post by AlexLeadingEdge »

Hi guys,

Just upgraded to Veeam B&R version 13.1.1.18 and I'm getting this error message when it tries to auto-update the guest components. This guest is Windows Server 2008 R2.

Code: Select all

24/08/2026 10:37:33 am Failed REDACTED: Failed to upgrade VM components: Unable to reinstall deployer service: SSH credentials are not specified (0:00:04)

- VBR upgraded to 13.1.1.18 (Build 20260812) on 20 August.
- Server is Windows Server 2008 R2.
- Veeam Agent for Windows is 6.3.2.1205 and cannot be upgraded to 13.1 on that OS.
- Veeam Installer Service successfully upgraded to 13.1.1.18.
- Veeam Data Mover / Backup Transport remains at 13.0.1.2067.
- Components Update specifically says Veeam Data Mover service requires an update.
- The attempted update fails in ~4 seconds with:
- Unable to reinstall deployer service: SSH credentials are not specified
- This is a Windows machine and VeeamDeploySvc is the Windows Veeam Installer Service, so SSH makes no sense.
- Use persistent guest agent is disabled.
- We removed the old Veeam Guest Agent 13.0.1.2067, and the same failure remains.

Hi Alex,

As it's a technical issue, open a Support case and allow Veeam Support time to review the debug logs. We cannot meaningfully troubleshoot such issues over the forums, so start with a Support Case.

The behavior indeed does not sound correct, but not immediately aware of any known issues so support case is the way to go.

Please share your case number once created, thanks!
