Question regarding Scale Computing Plugin and App Aware Processing

Post by brucekconvergent »

Noted in the current documentation that "In Veeam Plug-in for Scale Computing HyperCore v2, application-aware processing is not supported" --- is there an ETA for when this will be supported? Also noted that backup job encryption is not supported either in this environment, will it be at some point?

I don't believe you're looking at current documentation. We added app-aware in the v3.0 plugin and current shipping version is v4.0. Correct only repository encryption is available now however per job is under consideration. No ETA yet

Well, I can't get it to work... What's the magic? It fails to connect to the Admin share during job setup, using an account with domain admin privileges, verified the share is there and works if I connect to it from another computer on the same subnet using the same credentials, etc. -- the VEEAM appliance just won't connect. Since that part of a job config has always worked just fine for us in other environments (We are a VEEAM reseller), I was assuming what appears to be the current documentation (as in, I click the help link from the management GUI (which is 13.1.1) and at some point in there it says it's not available in Scale environments) was correct.

I take back that last statement, it does appear it says it can work (you must have been right about me somehow seeing older docs). I just can't get it to work. At all.

@brucekconvergent is it possible you don't have Scale guest tools installed on the target VM? It is required for HyperCore guest processing - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13. If guest tools are installed you definitely need to open a support case

Guest tools are installed and running. Guest Credentials are correct (set them to something really dumb to be sure), machine is reachable by other systems on same subnet as VM appliance, I can map the Admin$ share as well using the credentials. VEEAM appliance just flat refuses to work. Have this happening on a customer system, and my lab system. I don't see a way to upload an image to this forum, but the error is "Failed to connect via Administrative Share Host: [] [Failed to connect the guest OS. [Failed to connect to guest agent. Errors: "Samba failed with error: NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT [stderr: Could not connect to server 192.168.0.11; Connection Failed: NT_STATUS_IO" so on and so forth.
