Shared Repository Server

I have found some past discussion of this, for example here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63954&start=0

However, I've not been able to find some of the details I would like to know before deciding if I even want to try this. I'm using hardened repositories on Debian 13 servers, currently still on 12 for now, but will be upgrading soon.

If I were to have two backup servers using a shared physical repository host, they will both want to install a transport and deployment service I presume? Or do they somehow both share the same service? If I were to go to my second backup server and try to add this machine as a managed host while it is a managed host on another backup server, does it detect this automatically and setup alternate systemd units and run on alternate ports?

I would appreciate any insights into the details of how this works. Please let me be the judge of whether or not it is a good idea.

Just to be clear (I can't see a way to edit posts), "currently still on 12" I mean Veeam 12, not Debian 12. As indicated, the repo servers are indeed Debian 13.
