Expand 2nd disk of a VIA-based WAN Accelerator

Hello,

we have several VMware virtual WAN Accelerators based on VIA. One of the WAN Accelerators reports ...

Storage capacity threshold exceeded for veeamrepo mounted at /var/lib/veeam: 2.26 TB used of 2.49 TB.

Now, if we would re-size the 2nd virtual disk from 2.5TB to 3.5TB, would it possible to expand this 2nd disk within the Veeam Host Management Console somehow or how is this done?

And if it's not possible within the GUI, is it possible via command line and is this officially supported?

Another question regarding the cache limit => the cache of this WAN Accelerator is configured with 650GB and yet 2.26TB is consumed! Why is that?

P.S.: We created another test VIA-appliance with a 2nd disk of 200GB and fully configured it. Now, we re-sized the 2nd disk to 250GB but within 'Storage' of the Veeam Host Management Console, we were not able to expand the disk so far.

Hi Didi7,

Currently you cannot do disk expansions on the appliances; this is something we plan to address, but no further info to share at the moment.

As for the WAN Accel config question, open a Support case and allow Veeam Support to review the behavior. I suspect it's about this scenario, but Support will be able to confirm this for you. Thanks!

It is, that's why there is a cache limit of 650GB in this target WAN accelerator, instead of the 110GB in the source WAN accelerator ...



And only 4 or 5 source WAN accelerator talk to one target WAN accelerator.

I thought 650GB is the limit used then?

That's the VHRISO, which while similar and a predecessor to the Infrastructure Appliance, it's not the same

No, but agreed it's not super clear based on the documentation. The reason is described here and basically it just tells that in some circumstances more space will be required than configured. The configuration is not a hard limit, but rather it's how much of the data is kept around.

Agreed though it's not very straight forward (I usually need to re-read the section when WAN accelerator topics come up), will discuss internally getting a more clear guidance on the sizing and expected behaviors.
