13.1.x - VBR a few observations in LAB

Post by BostjanUNIJA »

Hi.
Just a few observations found while building a Virtual Lab.

Active directory forest restore in latest 13.1.x version is showing wrong status in case if you have AD set to DHCP.
Although probably nobody would use in production, to have a MAC reservation for a DC.
If you test the AD restore the tasks is shown as failed, but in the details of the failed restore task there is still status shown as processing.

Another observation is if an environment has only 1 domain controller and you do the AD/forest restore, it ends with failed status, because of the running scripts trying to do replication with other domain controllers that do not exists.

Just my 5 cents.

Hi Bostjan,

If there is reason to believe the wrong status is showing, sounds like a technical issue and you should open a Support Case to let Support review & escalate to RND if required.

Please proceed with a case and let Support review the behavior, and share your case number once created. Thanks!

Hello,

Adding my two cents: DHCP-based configurations are not supported for Forest Recovery. For the second observation, as David correctly noted, please open a support case. Long story short, you need to have a backup of at least one DC for each domain, so please check that as well.

Thanks!
