VRO - Impossible to create a credential with the same user name

Post by Stabz »

Hello,

I need to connect two vCenters to vRO. I have dedicated service accounts for this purpose, one for each vCenter but both accounts have the same username.

In VBR, I can add multiple users with the same username without any issue.

However, in vRO, this is not possible. I receive the following error:

> A credential record with the user name “svc-…” already exists.

Is that a VRO limitation ? I don't see any mention in the documention about this.

Thanks

Hello,
Let me check with the R&D team. Meantime can you confirm - do both credentials you want to have exactly the same name & domain, e.g. 'svc-abc123@vsphere.local' ? Or does the domain differ?

Hello, I've checked and confirmed - Orchestrator does not allow creation of a second account with exactly the same name as an existing account. This is by design as it would be impossible to tell such accounts apart except by description - which is not always visible, depending where you are in the Orchestrator UI.
The workaround would be to create a second account in the second vCenter with a different name, and use that in Orchestrator.

Hi Alec,

Okay, thanks for the clarification. In the meantime, I had created an account with a different name so I could move forward.
It's a shame the option is listed under VBR rather than VRO ;)
