Invisible Mouse in Console
Hi all,
Since this morning we've been experiencing an issue where the mouse cursor no longer displays inside the Veeam Backup & Replication console window.
The cursor works fine everywhere else on the desktop/RDP session, it simply disappears when hovering over the console itself.
We also have a client who reported the exact same issue starting this morning. These are two separate, unrelated Veeam environments, not even the same Veeam version.
My colleague is seeing this on every client console he connects to this morning (via Cloud Connect remote RDP).
I'm using the exact same server and the exact same console and do NOT experience the issue.
Started abruptly this morning, no changes made on our end that we're aware of.
Has anyone else run into this today? Curious if this is tied to a recent Windows update, an RDP client version, or something on the Veeam console side itself.
Thank you.

Re: Invisible Mouse in Console
Hi Andre,
Yes, I've been tracking reports of this from others as well with our Support Team.
Current leading thought is that it may be related to an Edge / WebView2 update, but we don't have anything conclusive yet, however, there are reports we're aware of that other non-Veeam products relying on WebView2 are having the same issue. (i.e., other vendors / products using WebView2 seem to have same invisible cursor issue)
Given that it seems to have popped up all of a sudden just today, may indicate it's about some Windows update, but as noted no clear root cause yet.
Edit Update 2026-09-03: While the full root cause has not been confirmed yet, all evidence points to an issue in the Edge / WebView2 152.0.4191.53 update. While we will try to get a confirmation on the issue, as noted above it has been reported as an issue in other non-veeam products by other vendors as well and Veeam Support has confirmed that in all reported instances, the issue appears to be centered on the Edge / WebView2 152.0.4191.53 update.
At this time, please use the workaround from user mikeely, as we are seeing success with it in Support cases as well.
There is no need for a Support Case with Veeam at this time, as the likely root cause is an Edge / WebView2 update and will likely be resolved in a future update. Use the posted workaround for the time being, or roll-back the Edge / WebView version to a pre-152 version.

Re: Invisible Mouse in Console
For the time being I have it fixed, this does not require a reboot, just a re-launch of the Veeam console:
It looks like Microsoft or more likely Intel may have screwed up the compositor somehow...
Code: Select all
Key Name: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics
Value 0
Name: DisableHWAcceleration
Type: REG_DWORD
Data: 0x1'If you truly love Veeam, then you should not let us do this

Re: Invisible Mouse in Console
Thanks for sharing the workaround Mike, let's see if it helps others.
Based on Support Team work, rolling back to previous version of EdgeView seems to resolve it: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.co ... 20webview2
So likely seems like it's a Microsoft issue indeed, so will need to wait for them to push an update on WebView. For time being, use Mike's workaround or rollback if feasible.

Hi guys,
same Problem here, besides the workaround (thanks for that): ...as soon as we killed the msedgewebview2.exe processes, the Mouse is visible again.
