Question about how the security updates work on Version 13?

Post by jasonede »

I see that the veeam appliance has update settings and that these are also present in a plain VBR install on Windows. Does this mean that security updates are automatically applied after 30 days (i.e. for the ones released on the 6th January) these would have been automatically patched in 30 days or does this just apply to the appliance? As far as I can find the documentation just takes me back to the appliance rather than the backup and recovery on windows. If it does automatically apply the updates then it would be good if there was an option in the console to apply any waiting updates now.

The documentation is correct, this is only for VIA appliances managed by VBR on Windows, not for backup server itself. Automatic patching of the latter is a feature of Veeam Software Appliance experience.

Hi,

For customers still running Veeam Backup & Recovery version 13.0.xx.xx on Window what is the process to apply Veeam security patches? From what I can see the only way is to install the latest version released?

Is it possible to just deploy security updates without upgrading to 13.1.xx etc?

If isn't possible then how are customers that eventually want to upgrade to the VSA but not ready just yet as for a large environment that has gone through many changes since version 11 meant to do to keep patched for security vulnerabilities?
The last notes I read was that if you go to 13.1 and beyond on Windows upgrading to the VSA isn't currently supported, or has this changed recently?

Regards,
