S3 repo creation failed due to Mount sever NFS Service in use

Post by Dagr »

Case #08232366

I have noticed on multiple occasions that adding a S3 repository fails if the Mount server chosen currently have the NFS Service in use.

Error looks like:
11-09-2026 10:59:13 Error Reconfiguring vPower NFS service Error: Unable to reconfigure vPower NFS service on host ‘xxx’ because of active connections.
Unable to reconfigure vPower NFS service on host ‘xxx’ because of active connections.
11-09-2026 10:59:13 Error Failed to save object storage repository: Unable to reconfigure vPower NFS service on host ‘xxx’ because of active connections.
11-09-2026 10:59:13 Error Infrastructure item save failed Error: Unable to reconfigure vPower NFS service on host ‘xxx’ because of active connections.

I am glad that there is a safeguard if the service is in use, but this seems like a bad design decision to have the service reconfigured as part of the setup, if it is also known that any use of this service will cause the setup of a repository to fail.

Any plans for changing this?

Hi Daniel,

If I understand your question correctly, you have a mount server configured that is also using a different NFS server, correct?

This would be an unsupported scenario. The Help Center states that the mount server used for vPower NFS cannot have a native NFS server enabled.

I suggest specifying a mount server where you do not use any other NFS server services.
