Component update required on some managed servers after a 13.0 to 13.1 update

Post by matsusan »

[Background and Environment]
I evaluate each new Veeam Backup & Replication release in a lab environment and prepare the upgrade procedures that our customers follow.

Veeam Backup & Replication: v13.0 upgraded to v13.1
Backup server, proxies, repositories: Windows Server 2025
Hyper-V hosts: Windows Server 2025

[My Goal]
I need to confirm whether this Components Update prompt is expected behavior, so that the customer-facing procedure reflects it accurately.

[The Issue]
I disabled all jobs and performed the upgrade from 13.0 to 13.1 with the "Update remote components automatically" check box selected.
According to the user guide, the backup server prompts for a component upgrade only when this option is not selected:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13

Nevertheless, the Components Update window appeared after the upgrade.
It listed only a subset of managed servers — a backup repository and a Hyper-V host.
I applied the component update, which completed without errors. Jobs and existing backup data were unaffected.

[Questions]
I would expect no prompt at all when this option "Update remote components automatically" is selected.
Is the observed behavior expected, and if so, under which conditions is the prompt still shown?
