VBR 13 and VIA
Hello,
I would like to understand how it works when using a VBR 13 server with Windows and VIA for proxy / repositories.
I mean, will the proxy + repository can go to 13.1 or they will go only if VBR is already in VBR 13.1 (with manual patching because it's windows).

Re: VBR 13 and VIA
VIA for remote infrastructure components is fully supported with windows based backup server on v13.0.
Veeam Updater is fully supported on this VIA deployments as well. Updater Settings are centrally managed by the Windows backup server.
Best,
Fabian

Re: VBR 13 and VIA
Hello,
Thanks for your answer but It s not really what I would like to know here
If vbr on windows is configured to say update component for managed via server sunday at 2pm.
Will the via appliance can be updated to a more recent version than the vbr itself ?
Because if I understand correctly, the vbr server itself can t update automatically while it s on windows OS.
I want to know if some checks are dones by managed appliance before they are updated to be sure they are always compatible with the vbr itself.

Re: VBR 13 and VIA
Veeam Updater on Infrastructure Appliance will only download and install updates for the OS, third-party applications, or Host Management UI.
Updates for Veeam Backup & Replication services on remote infrastructure appliances are part of updating the backup server.
During the upgrade ( Update remote components automatically) or after ( Components Update).
Summarised: no need to worry about appliances not working anymore
Best,
Fabian

Re: VBR 13 and VIA
Thanks for your answer.
Maybe I missunderstand something about veeam updater.
Does it mean it will never update veeam build ?
I believe it s to update the os (rovky linux) but also veeam build (and posgre indirectly).
Or maybe it will update veeam buimd but only when using vsa
I m talking about this : https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13

Re: VBR 13 and VIA
Veeam Updater does update „Veeam Backup & Replication“ and „PostgreSQL“ on Veeam Software Appliance. And there is no PostgreSQL on Veeam Infrastructure Appliance.
The Rocky 9.2 to Rocky 9.6 OS upgrade for your Infrastructure Appliances will be enabled during/after VBR upgrade to v13.1, not before.
Veeam updater will not magically destroy your appliances over night with unexpected updates. Everything is covered.
I‘ll review the help center tomorrow. Maybe we can improve the wording.
Best,
Fabian

Re: VBR 13 and VIA
Thanks for your answer.
Now I understand when using windows as VBR server veeam updater will update os for appliances and veeam components only when vbr will be patch (manually).
When using vsa, all will be patch automatically but for veeam patch it will always start with vsa and then on the appliance.
It s impossible to have an appliance on veeam 13.0.1 and vbr / vsa on 13.0
Am I right now ?
