Veeam software appliance documentation

Post by bishoptf »

I sure I am missing it, but I have downloaded the iso and wanted to kick the tires and see if it will meet my needs for a SMB but at least for me one of the frustrating parts is just finding the right information. I will not be installing it into vmware since I am migrating to proxmox, so I have the iso and I want to create a vm but trying to find what the base settings are for the vm, memory, cpu disk etc to mount the iso and boot from. I assume since its based on linux do I use the virio drivers for storage etc, again I am sure the information is there but I am unable to find it, thanks.

Nevermind found the information.....still not sure if it will do what I am currently doing with the winblows installation but guess we will find out...

I guess I have questions, I was hoping this was be for SMB, but looking at the minimum specifications:

Veeam Software Appliance
Hardware
CPU: x86-64 processor (minimum 8 cores recommended).
Memory: 16 GB RAM plus 500 MB RAM for each concurrent job.
Disk 1: 240 GB minimum. This disk hosts Veeam JeOS, Veeam Backup & Replication software, configuration database and instant recovery cache.
Recommended sizing depends on the number of protected workloads:
480 GB SSD for small environments (up to a few hundred workloads)
960 GB SSD for medium-sized environments (up to a few thousand workloads)
Multi-TB SSD for large environments. Larger capacity increases the disk space available to instant recovery cache, allowing for running more machines for longer time.
Disk 2: 240 GB minimum...

I don't have a server with anything over than 6 cores, so I guess I will go with what I have and see how it does. Still does not tell me what kind of drivers to use for the storage and or network, I assume the virtio drivers should be supported but would be nice if they specified the details for the template or where to find a KVM template.
