Hi all,
if I may hijack this thread, I am struggling a bit with the needed permissions on Postgres side for a successful application aware backup of a PostgreSQL 18 instance on a Windows Server 2022. This instance was installed and is configured by an external company for their software. They created a user in Postgres for us to use, which I configured in the "Application Aware Settings" of the backup job, but the backup always has a warning, that the Postgres denied the connection since the specified user has no permission to log-in. They already did a bunch of configuration, but it seems we are missing something. Is there any official documentation by Veeam what exactly is needed in Postgres on Windows for a successful application aware backup? Or has someone done it already and can share the necessary configuration?
Thanks in advance
Daniel

Re: Permission required for PostgreSQL AAIP on Windows
Hi Daniel,
Please no hijacking. New topics for "new" questions will not cost you anything, I promise.
Required permissions are documented in the Help Center.
If the documented permissions are in place but the backup job still shows failures, please open a case and provide us with the case number.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Permission required for PostgreSQL AAIP on Windows
Hi Fabian,
sorry for that, I just thought since the topic was about Postgres Backup in 13.1 it would fit here as well.
But I just got feedback from the external company, for whatever reason they did not give the User in Postgres the superuser privilege, even though it was explicitly stated that this is required. They will do so now and then we will see if it works. If I still have trouble I will open a case.
Sorry again.
Best regards
Daniel

Re: Permission for PostgreSQL AAIP on Windows
Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad the missing permission could be found.
I also want to thank you for raising this topic, since I realized that the PostgreSQL permissions in the Help Center needs to be updated to mention PostgreSQL on Windows.
Best,
Fabian
